H2 GenRack Signs Strategic Deal to Manufacture and Sell Hydrogen Internal Combustion Generators in India

Varun S Patel and Aayush D Desai to Lead Manufacturing and Sales Operations Across India

India’s clean energy and industrial power generation sector is poised for a major transformation as H2 GenRack has announced a strategic agreement to manufacture and market

hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine generators in India. The initiative will be spearheaded by Varun S Patel and Aayush D Desai, who will lead the manufacturing expansion and commercial sales operations for the Indian market.

The partnership marks a significant step toward advancing sustainable and next-generation power solutions in India, particularly for industries seeking alternatives to diesel-powered generator systems.

Hydrogen internal combustion engine generators are emerging as a promising clean-energy technology capable of replacing conventional diesel generator sets without requiring major changes in existing generator infrastructure. Unlike hydrogen fuel-cell technologies, hydrogen combustion-based generators are designed to deliver practical scalability, lower operational transition barriers, and competitive cost efficiency for industrial and commercial applications.

According to the company, the technology is expected to play a transformative role in sectors requiring uninterrupted power backup and large-scale distributed energy systems. These include airports, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, residential complexes, infrastructure projects, and other energy-intensive operations.

The new generation systems are expected to support power capacities ranging from smaller kilowatt-level applications to large-scale one-megawatt generator systems, making them suitable for a broad spectrum of Indian industrial and infrastructure requirements.

Speaking on the development, the leadership associated with the initiative highlighted that hydrogen combustion technology has the potential to become a game-changing solution for India’s energy transition goals. The generators are being positioned as a cleaner alternative to diesel-based systems while leveraging hydrogen as a future-ready fuel source.

The agreement also includes plans to explore manufacturing infrastructure development in India, aligning with the Government of India’s push for indigenous clean-tech manufacturing and the broader “Make in India” initiative. Industry sources indicate that the project may also

evaluate state-level industrial incentives and policy support frameworks to accelerate domestic manufacturing operations.

With India aggressively promoting green hydrogen adoption through the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the partnership is expected to strengthen the country’s growing ecosystem for hydrogen-based industrial applications and sustainable energy technologies.

The move comes at a time when businesses and infrastructure operators are increasingly seeking reliable, scalable, and environmentally responsible alternatives to conventional fossil-fuel-based backup power systems.
